Outer Banks Marathon Race EXPO
Dare County Youth Center - 602 Mustian Street, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948
Friday, November 11th from 12PM - 7 PM
Saturday, November 12th from 9AM – 6PM

EXPO Parking
On Friday, parking is available at the Youth Center. On Saturday, participants are encouraged to park at First Flight Elementary School, located a short walk from the Youth Center (see map below).

Getting There: Shuttles, Parking & Race Day Traffic


MARATHON

Runner Drop Off: Kitty Hawk Elementary School - a short walk to the Start.  From Hwy 158 (By-Pass) in Southern Shores, turn onto Dogwood Trail. Turn right into the parking lot of Kitty Hawk Elementary School, 16 Dogwood Trail, Southern Shores.

Marathon Shuttles: Park near the Start, take a shuttle to the Start and catch a shuttle back to your car after the race OR park near the Finish, take a shuttle to the Start, run the race and then take a short shuttle to your car parked near the Finish.

Park near Start option:
Wal-Mart: 5400 N Croatan Highway, in Kitty Hawk, NC 27949

Shuttles departing every 10 minutes beginning at 6:30am.

Park near Finish option:
Manteo High School: 616 Wingina Avenue, Manteo NC 27959

Shuttles depart promptly from Manteo High School at 5:45am to take you to the Marathon Start.  Shuttle service is not available after 5:45am.

HALF MARATHON
Runner Drop-Off Location: 
Get dropped off at the Start – From Highway 158 (the Bypass) or Highway 12 (Beach Road) in Nags Head, turn onto Barnes Street, then turn north onto Memorial Avenue. Runner drop-off is at the corner of Memorial and Baltic Street in Nags Head.

Half Marathon Shuttles:  Park near the Start, take a shuttle to the Start and catch a shuttle back to your car after the race; OR, park near the Finish, take a shuttle to the Start, run the race and the take a short shuttle to your car parked near the Finish.

Park near Start option:
1)  Nags Head Elementary School - 3020 Wrightsville Avenue, Nags Head, NC 27959
2)  Overflow Parking:  YMCA - 3000 S. Croatan Hwy., Nags Head, NC 27959

Shuttles depart from Nags Head Elementary every 10 minutes beginning at 6:15am.

Park near Finish option:
Manteo High School: 616 Wingina Avenue, Manteo NC 27959

Shuttles depart promptly from Manteo High School at 5:45am to take you to the Half Marathon Start.  Shuttle service is not available after 5:45am.


Gear Bag Service

Bring a change of clothes with you to the Start, turn them over to UPS, and UPS will have them waiting for you at the Finish.

BYOB...Bring Your Own Bag!  UPS will be at the Starts to collect your bags and transport your gear to the Finish...thanks, UPS!  You will receive a label in your race bag at packet pick-up (it's a tear-off label attached to your race number). Make sure you fill out your tag and follow the instructions given.  GREEN NOTE: Our race bags will be re-usable grocery bags.  If you plan to utilize our Gear Bag Service, please use a closeable bag (zippered, drawstring, keeping the size to 16"x20" or less), like a small duffel bag or backpack, thanks!

BAG CHECK CLOSES AT 6:40 AM.

Water Stations

Available at all odd mile markers along the marathon course, and all even mile markers along the half marathon course.

Gatorade Endurance
Marathon: Mile 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 21, 22, 23 and 25
1/2 Marathon: Mile 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12

Gatorade Endurance Formula (TM) is the exclusive sports beverage of the Outer Banks Marathon

Energy Stations
Assorted flavors of HAMMER energy gel will be provided along the course at key locations
Marathon: Mile 7, 13, 17 and 21
1/2 Marathon: Mile 8

In an effort to provide our runners with the highest quality energy gel, the Outer Banks Marathon has partnered with Hammer Nutrition (TM).

Port-a-Johns
Provided at the Start, the Finish and every 2-3 miles along the course.


Medical


Medical Aid Stations

Marathon: All odd mile markers along the course.
1/2 Marathon: All even mile markers along the course.

Can’t Finish?
Please call or ask a course volunteer to call 911 if your are in need of immediate medical assistance.  In a non-emergency situation, call (252) 423-1537 to arrange complimentary transportation to the Finish, where you can catch a shuttle to your vehicle (Manteo, High School, Nags Head Elementary, YMCA, Kitty Hawk Elementary or Wal-Mart). or meet friends and family at the Famiy Reunion/Information table (look for the red Information flags near the Finish on Queen Elizabeth Street).  Please keep this number with you on race day OR ask a Mile Marker or Medical volunteer to call for you.


Where'd They Go?


Lost & Found:

All lost and found items, excluding discarded clothing along the course, will be taken to the Finish; location will be listed in the race program.  Please note: discarded clothing at the Starts and along the course will be thrown away, no exceptions.  Road Race Tip: If you plan to wear a jacket or pants over your running gear to the start of the race, but you will want to remove them after you warm up, then either use the Gear Bag Service at the Starts, or go to the thrift store and buy these items.

Family Reunion Area:
Family members and friends can meet up with runners near the Finish (look for the red Information flag), or call (252) 216-6690 for assistance in locating a family member.

Race Timing

The Marathon, Half Marathon, 8K and 5K will be timed by J&A Racing, Inc. utilizing the Chronotrack Timing System.  The Chrontrack B-Tag  will be attached to your race bib number where it will remain for the entire race. 

NOTE: Championship Chips cannot be used for the races as the B-Tag technology is different.  You must use the Chronotrack B-Tag. 


 

Race Results & Course Records

Race Results will be updated periodically on race day. Final results will be posted at the post race party and online on race day. Awards given at the Awards ceremony on race day will not be revised, should there be a change in race results following the ceremony.

J&A Racing will submit race results to USATF to review, determine and ratify any new course records set. Please allow adequate time for the application process, as this can take several months.
