  The 6th annual Gateway Bank Outer Banks Marathon Weekend was held November 11 - 13, 2011. The 3 day event was enjoyed by participants from 42 States and 6 Country's. Total registered participants numbered over 6000!

The Gateway Bank Outer Banks Marathon

Divisions:	Open Division 2012 RRCA NC Marathon Championship Division 2012 USATF NC Marathon Championship Division (must be an NC USATF member)
Date:	Sunday, November 11, 2012
Start Time:	7:20 AM  (7 HOURS - Course Time Limit) Beat the bridge by 1:00 PM Runners need to maintain a pace of 16 min/mile in order to "beat the bridge" at mile 22.  The bridge will be closed to runners at 1:30pm. Mandatory wave start - placed by estimated finish time; 1st wave for elites and competitors.
Entry Fees:	$80 until 2/29/12 $85 3/1/12 - 5/31/12 $95 6/1/12 -8/31/12 $100 9/1/12 - 11/4/12 $120 EXPO (T-Shirt not guaranteed)
FYI	Boston Qualifier; Walker-Friendly; Prize Purse Age group awards for Marathon will be mailed to the recieptants.
Runner Cap:	2500 The Outer Banks Full Marathon is the RRCA North Carolina State Championship race and the North Carolina USA Track & Field State Championship race.

The Gateway Bank Outer Banks Half Marathon

is the second half of the Outer Banks Marathon course, (see above). The half marathon will begin in Nags Head, near the largest sand dune on the East Coast at Jockey’s Ridge State Park; cross the beautiful Washington-Baum Bridge, and finish on Roanoke Island near where the first English colonists landed in 1587.

The Outer Banks 8K

is an out-and-back course which will start in Kill Devil Hills at the First Flight High School track (in front of the grandstand), continue through Nags Head Woods Maritime Forest and finish at the track. The course is partly on a dirt road and is walker-friendly.

Take the Challenge! 4 to choose from in 2012!

Satisfy your inner pirate and take the Pamlico Jack Challenge or the Rum Runners Challenge. In the Pamlico Jack Challenge you will run/walk the 8K on Saturday and the Half Marathon on Sunday. The Rum Runners Challenge includes the 5K on Saturday and the Half Marathon on Sunday. 

In the Blackbeard Challenge you will run/walk the 8K on Saturday and the Marathon on Sunday. Or try Queen Anne's Revenge and run/walk the 5K on Saturday and on Sunday, finish up with the Marathon.
